UFYE at MIDO 2024
UNIFORYOUREYES, the project started in 2019 as a permanent optometric examination service with glasses supply in collaboration with institutions, associations, and companies, will be presented at Otticlub MIDO on Monday 5 February 2024 at 10 a.m.

The advanced training course for professionals signed by CSO continues at the Milanese show MIDO 2024. A symposium will be held on the morning of Sunday 4 February in which we will talk about the important role of instruments in the evaluation of contact lens fitting.
The event takes place in the spaces of B2EyesTG, which offers talks, interviews, debates and previews of the sector, in Pavilion 1. After the success of the two previous appointments, which involved a large number of professionals from the supply chain, Fabrizio Zeri of the University of Milan-Bicocca will delve into the topic “How new instruments help in the application of multifocal contact lenses”. Finally, Mauro Frisani of the University of Turin will illustrate the “Use of Scheimpflug camera and ocular aberrometry in the selection and evaluation of contact lenses”. The event will also be broadcast live.

COMiB at AILAC 2023
Fabrizio Zeri and Giulia C. Rizzo participated in the AILAC 2023 conference held in Rome on November 19 and 20.
Zeri moderated the roundtable discussion titled “Nuove sfide nell’attività clinica e nella formazione in contattologia morbida” while Rizzo contributed with a presentation titled “L’utilizzo della topografia nell’applicazione di LaC morbide”.


IACLE webinar – Join us on 13 December
On Wednesday 13 December at 12 noon UK, IACLE Director Dr Fabrizio Zeri and Giulia Carlotta Rizzo will give a webinar on ”Multifocal Contact Lenses: clinical perspectives and teaching challenges”.
IACLE members can watch live online via Zoom, and the event will be live streamed to our Facebook page for students and eye care practitioners to tune in to.
COMiB at CorriBicocca Anniversary Edition
On 21 and 22 October 2023, COMiB participated in the 6th edition of “CorriBicocca” an event organized by the University of Milano-Bicocca, CUS Milano and CUS Bicocca. Alessandro Duse, Aziza Obaid, Giulia Carlotta Rizzo, and some third-years students in Optics and Optometry degree provided quick, free visual screening (i.e., visual acuity) for athletes and their families. They also informed people about several projects that will be initiated in the next few months as part of the MUSA project.
XV Prize ITWIIN: special mention to Erika Ponzini
On October 20th, at the Award Ceremony of the XV Prize ITWIIN, during the Conference ”Synergy between research, industry and society: women promoters of innovation“ at the Assolombarda of Monza and Brianza, an honorable mention went to Dr. Erika Ponzini for her research on human tears. ITWIIN, The Italian Association of Women Inventors and Innovators, is an Italian women’s association which acts in the field of invention and innovation, both autonomously and in collaboration with other entities.

Uniforyoureyes: optometric examination and free eyeglasses throughout Milan
The project, promoted by COMiB of the University of Milano-Bicocca, in collaboration with institutions, associations, and companies, is aimed at economically disadvantaged people and extends beyond the boundaries of Municipality 9 to reach residents of all city neighborhoods. To date, 556 people have benefited from the service.
The beneficiaries will be identified among the adults and children involved in the activities of “QuBì. The Recipe Against Child Poverty,” a program promoted by the Fondazione Cariplo to support families with children facing poverty through a network of Third Sector organizations. The initiative also involves the technical-professional high school “G. Galilei – R. Luxemburg”, the Lions Club Milano Bramante Cinque Giornate, Centro Style, Hoya Lens Italia, Viatris Italia, and Vanni Occhiali.
The initiative’ goal is to provide a permanent and continuous optometric service to citizens in financially vulnerable situations.
