On the occasion of “Università Svelate” the day called by CRUI, the University of Milano-Bicocca is organizing workshops and guided tours to introduce the secrets of the university’s research and scientific activities.
Researchers from the School of Science tell about their research, offer interactive activities to help people understand complex scientific principles, and open the doors to the departments’ laboratories to introduce and illustrate their activities.
The degree course in Optics and Optometry will be present with booth “The iris of the eye seen up close“.
When: March 20, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Premio “Giulio Velati” 2022-2023
The award, established in memory of Giulio Velati, a pioneer of optometry in Italy, is aimed at students who have completed a three-year degree in Optics and Optometry at the University of Milan – Bicocca in the academic year 2022-2023.
UFYE at MIDO 2024
UNIFORYOUREYES, the project started in 2019 as a permanent optometric examination service with glasses supply in collaboration with institutions, associations, and companies, will be presented at Otticlub MIDO on Monday 5 February 2024 at 10 a.m.

Uniforyoureyes: optometric examination and free eyeglasses throughout Milan
The project, promoted by COMiB of the University of Milano-Bicocca, in collaboration with institutions, associations, and companies, is aimed at economically disadvantaged people and extends beyond the boundaries of Municipality 9 to reach residents of all city neighborhoods. To date, 556 people have benefited from the service.
The beneficiaries will be identified among the adults and children involved in the activities of “QuBì. The Recipe Against Child Poverty,” a program promoted by the Fondazione Cariplo to support families with children facing poverty through a network of Third Sector organizations. The initiative also involves the technical-professional high school “G. Galilei – R. Luxemburg”, the Lions Club Milano Bramante Cinque Giornate, Centro Style, Hoya Lens Italia, Viatris Italia, and Vanni Occhiali.
The initiative’ goal is to provide a permanent and continuous optometric service to citizens in financially vulnerable situations.
109th National Congress of the Italian Physical Society – Optometry symposium

The VisionOttica Award 2023 awardees

Moreover, the bachelor’s degree in Optics and Optometry was awarded for “recognition for progress in research and development in Optics and Optometry”.

COMiB at BCLA 2023
COMiB research group was at BCLA Clinical Conference and Exibition 2023 with a poster and two oral presentations.
Fabrizio Zeri presented a poster titled “New non-invasive tear breakup time (NIBUT) measurements vs fluorescein breakup time (fBUT): agreement and repeatability.”
Mauro Frisani during the Free Papers – Specialist lenses section presented a work titled “Estimation of scleral lens clearance: OCT measurement vs operator-based measurement by slit lamp” and Giulia Carlotta Rizzo during the Free Papers – Myopia 2 section presented a work titled “Visual performance with an Extended Depth of Focus contact lens for myopia control and the influence of decentration” .
